The long-awaited successor to TU-2 lives up to the hype. Consider it a worthwhile pedal investment. With highly successful legendary pedals like TU-2, the task of creating a successor becomes very difficult. Features

With regards to features, the Boss TU3 Chromatic Tuner pedal does not disappoint. It comes packed with a plethora of remarkable features. The easy-to-read 21-segment display comes with a greater number of LEDs than the TU-2, making it easier to read in dark conditions. The display also has a High-Brightness mode which enhances visibility during very bright settings, like when you’re playing outdside. The pedal also offers the Accu-Pitch function which provides visual verification in the event of complete tuning.

There are two modes in which you can use the TU3 Chromatic Tuner pedal: the Chromatic mode and the Guitar/Bass mode. The pedal tunes 6-string basses and 7-string guitars, which are a delightful accompanied to the piece you’re playing. Of course, you have the liberty of tuning according to string number. You can also choose ‘Flat tuning’ by turning on the Guitar Flat mode. This allows you to lower tunings up to 6 semitones lower than the standard pitch. The pedal mutes its output signal when the tuner is switched on.

Precise Tuning

There are plenty of advantages when it comes to the Boss TU3 Chromatic Tuner pedal. Not only is it very user-friendly, but it is also highly functional and capable of producing high quality tuning effects. What I love most about this pedal – very precise tuning. In many cases their performances can be less than satisfactory. For instance, when it comes to the TU2 pedal, it is precise to +/- 3 cents whereas in case of the TU3 model the accuracy is within +/- 1 cent! Also, the pedal does not produce any annoying buzzes or pops when tuning your bass or guitar.

Construction

As far as the construction of the body is concerned, the Boss TU3 pedal is definitely more impressive than the TU2 model. The pedal is as solid as a slab of rock, and therefore not easily breakable. Made from high quality materials, the TU3 pedal has been designed to perfection, which does not come across as surprising because Boss is known for making highly durable pedals. In fact, the pedal is so solidly constructed that it almost feels indestructible! With such a durable build, you can take this pedal to outdoor performances, concerts, the studio and on the road.

The Boss TU3 pedal can also supply power for other pedals. This is only applicable for 9 Volt pedals. Alternatively, you can also go for a daisy chain cable and power the entire pedal board!

All in all, the TU3 Chromatic Tuner pedal is a huge improvement in comparison to the TU2. Boss has definitely done an impressive job in producing a pedal that is capable of giving legendary pedals like TU2 a run for their money! If you already have a TU2 pedal then you should consider an upgrade to a TU3 and feel the difference. On the other hand, if this is the first time you’re purchasing a tuner pedal then the TU3 model a great option!
