Xotic EP Booster Mini EQ Pedal Review

Xotic EP Booster Mini EQ Pedal Review

One of the ways by which I decide on my next guitar equipment purchase is to look at what the professionals are using. These guys play for high stakes and actually do this for a living so I expect they settle for nothing else but the best when choosing their gear. That is why when I found out that renowned and talented musicians such as Eric Johnson, Jimmy Page and Eddie Van Halen both used the EP-3 pedal, I wasted no time in buying my own unit and the experience has been very god. needless to say, when I found out that there will be an improved and boosted version in the Xotic EP Booster Mini EQ Effect Pedal, I went to my most trusted seller and got myself a unit. True enough, Xotic effects definitely captured the old appeal of the EP-3 and added a very effective new boost.

As with its predecessors, Xotic Effects is made with parts of the highest quality. It has a discrete FET design, with low impedance output, and unadulterated boost of around +20dB. It can produce shimmering highs and tremendous lows without any ear fatigue. The internal DIP switches also allows you to choose the boost frequencies.

It has a dimension of 3.5 by 1.5 by 1.5 inches, making it light and compact, ideal for traveling, gigs, and playing outdoors. It weighs only a meager 0.57 lbs. It has an input impedance of 1M ohm and an output impedance of 1k ohm. It has a blue LED indicator and a transparent knob. It can be powered with either a 9 or 18-volt adapter. It has an internal +3db switch that can be used for setting the minimum boost level from between 0 or +3b of gain. It has a a True Bypass system that eliminates any signal interference whenever it is switched on or off.

Once used, it is as if the pedal brought entirely new and unexplored dimension in my guitar because it improved the sound of my guitar by a lot. It seems like it has the capability to add some harmonic depth to the sound which I have never heard of in other pedals. It is an instrument made to come in between traditional electric guitars and the amps. It is definitely the best option if you want your guitar boosted and leveled off before it hits the amp. It’s not a squeaky, clean machine as most pedals are and actually add more tone depth and warmth to your sound. It is a thickening booster of sorts and enhances, not merely amplifies, your sound.

When put on clean channels, the knobs give a considerable amount of boost to defined the lead tone. I have tried this on many genres and a wide number of guitars that I own just sounded great on all of them.

The Xotic EP Booster Mini EQ Effect Pedal is a great steal and you should definitely get your hands on one if it is available anywhere near you. Even though I own around a dozen pedals, I do not expect to switch to anything other than this one anytime soon. The others just might fall short of the expectation this little gem has given me. This has been my default pedal for all of my plays and my other friends as well. It can be used for both home recording to oven studio recording and is just great.

Today’s industry is riddled with many claims and hyperboles when it comes to great pedals but I believe that this particular product is actually one that is worth its salt. The Xotic Booster manages to do something to the sound of the amplifier and turn the sound into something approaching the ethereal. And opinions on this particular item has been quite unanimous no matter who you ask. The manufacturers really hit the jackpot with this one by producing a one-of-a-kind pedal.
